Book Club Pick for February 2022

Book Club is growing and it is honestly making me feel so content. I know that there are TONNES of book clubs on the internet but there’s just something cool about having your own space for sharing books you love and discovering new ones with your friends, old and new!

Everyone is welcome to join the Books That Wander Book Club too, of course! Our monthly meetings are hosted by me on a live stream via my channel – – please check it out, give me a follow and you’ll be notified every time I go live! I do stream other creative and video gaming content too.

I’m really excited to announce that this month’s book club pick is Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov! I do think that a trigger warning is necessary here, as the story itself has been described as disturbing by a lot of readers. BUT I’ve heard so many good things about the writing – so much that people have classified this classic piece of literature as one of their favourite reads of all time. Here’s the blurb (extracted from

Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita is a dark and daring story of obsessive love and transgression. Humbert Humbert’s lust for his pubescent step-daughter, Lolita, shocked readers when it was first published in the 1950s; yet the novel was also celebrated for its beautifully lyrical writing. Almost fifty years after its first publication, Lolita remains a powerful tale of perversion and love gone wrong.

A controversial story and amazing writing seems to be a great topic of conversation for Book Club for sure. For those who have read Lolita, would like to read it, or would love to just sit in on our book club meeting and get to know the book first, please feel free to come and join the meeting on Sunday 13th March 2022 at 10:30am AEDT. This meeting will be dedicated to discussing all things Lolita along with more bookish content.

Our meeting for last month’s read – The Comfort Book by Matt Haig – will be held next Sunday 13th February 2022 at 10:30am AEDT. Along with The Comfort Book, we may chat about the first few chapters of Lolita as well as any other current reads and recommendations people have!

Happy Reading!
